Q. 1) What experience do you have working with marketing campaigns?
I’ve been involved in several marketing campaigns over the past few years. For example, I was responsible for creating a social media campaign for a local restaurant. I also worked on a marketing campaign for a new product that was being launched into the market.
Q. 2) What is your favorite marketing campaign? Why do you like it so much?
My favorite campaign was for one of my neighbors’ businesses. I loved the video that was used for this campaign. It furthered the storyline and stayed true to the company’s branding strategy. Because it involved digital media, I could see myself working on that type of project in the future.
Q. 3) When you are working on a marketing campaign, what are your top priorities?
When I’m working on a marketing campaign, my focus is to meet/exceed the expectations of the client. So for this particular question, I’d probably list creating an effective strategy as one of my top priorities because that will fall into place after meeting with the client and learning about his or her expectations.
Q. 4) What type of skills do you bring to this job? What sets you apart from other candidates who may have similar experiences?
I would say that I am versatile in terms of my skill set and what sets me apart from other candidates would be my ability to multitask and excel at different tasks. I am very customer service oriented and that separates me from other candidates as well because I know that the success of a company is often derived from their customers.
Q. 5) What are your strengths?
I’m good at understanding complex problems quickly, even when there are many moving pieces to consider. I think this question requires more information about the type of work you’re applying for in order to answer completely, but my thought process would be something along the lines of “My strength lies in my ability to quickly comprehend what others need” or something similar if it’s not directly tied to an aspect of marketing/advertising/communications you’ve done before.
Q. 6) How do you stay informed about changes in your industry?
I read relevant publications and websites for updates several times a week. I also like to follow industry leaders on social media and keep up with what they post.
Q. 7) How do you approach a new project?
I always review the project scope and objectives before beginning any new project because that will help me stay focused as I work through different aspects of the job. Once I create an action plan, it is much easier for me to delegate tasks to other team members if necessary or work solo if there’s no one else available to assist me (which is often the case).
Q. 8) What do you think about our company/industry/products? What would your first step be in order to set yourself apart from other candidates?
I think our company is doing well compared to others in the same industry. I would do some research on the company and the products they offer before my interview. That way, I can come up with ideas on how I could help the company grow and improve upon what they’re currently doing. For example, if the company is looking for ways to increase its online presence, I might suggest creating a social media campaign or revamping its website.
Q. 9) What are your thoughts about current trends in marketing?
I think video marketing will continue to grow in popularity, as will content marketing. I also think that more brands will start using Snapchat and Instagram Stories to engage with their customers. QR codes and Augmented Reality are other trends that will continue to grow.
Q. 10) Why do you want to work here?
I’d like to work at this company because it is a reputable and well-known brand and I feel that my previous experiences align with what the company is looking for. After doing my research on the company, I have come up with some ideas on how I could help them grow their online presence so those would be some talking points during my interview. Nevertheless, it will not hurt to ask if they are open to new ideas as well.
Q. 11) How do you handle conflicts?
In most cases, I bring any issues/conflicts that may arise to the attention of the person whom I am having a conflict with first in order to clear up any misunderstandings or misinterpretations of a situation. I like to be proactive in this way because it helps me de-escalate the situation by allowing us to work on solving the problem together rather than having that person bring up the issue at a later time, perhaps in front of others where it may seem like you’re trying to undermine them or make them appear incompetent.
Q. 12) What is your greatest strength/weakness?
My greatest strength is my ability to quickly comprehend what others need so I can easily adapt when working with different people. My biggest weakness would have to be my perfectionism because I always strive for excellence but sometimes get bogged down by overthinking things and taking too long to complete tasks which negatively affects how quickly projects are completed. Also, when something doesn’t turn out the way I envisioned it in my head, sometimes I can get a little down on myself thinking that I’m no longer good at what I do.
Q. 13) What do you think sets you apart from other candidates?
I would say my attention to detail and my willingness to go the extra mile are what set me apart from other candidates. I always make sure that all the details in whatever project I am working on are accounted for, and I’m not afraid to ask questions or take on additional tasks if it means the project will be completed successfully. Additionally, I am very proactive in terms of communicating with others and taking initiative so projects don’t get stalled due to a lack of communication.
Q. 14) Do you know anyone working at our company? If yes, please list their names and indicate how you know them.
I’m very familiar with your company because I previously worked for Company B (a sister company of Company A) before quitting to find a full-time position within the same industry which led me to you!
Q. 15) How do you stay abreast with new trends in this field?
I make it my goal every year to learn something new that will improve the quality of my work. Whether it’s by taking online courses or reading books on advertising/marketing, I always try to take advantage of any opportunities I have available to learn more about my field. Also, whenever I come across an article or video related to my field, I make sure to bookmark it so I can read it later and learn from it.
Q. 16) What has been your biggest failure? How did you handle the situation?
My biggest failure was that when working as a freelancer with a couple of different clients, sometimes you have to take on extra work even though it doesn’t increase your hourly pay rate because they’re great clients who will provide steady work for you in the future. Despite knowing this, I took on too much work thinking that if anything went wrong with those projects or new client opportunities came up but no one wanted to hire me because of poor performance, at least those established client relationships would still be there as a backup plan.
However, as soon as things started to unravel with those new projects and I started to fall behind schedule, none of my old clients were willing to give me additional work which led to me being unemployed for a few months.
Q. 17) How do you deal with stressful situations?
I’m a pretty laid-back person in general so I don’t really get stressed out about anything. When I do have to deal with stressful events, I try to take a step back and look at the bigger picture because it helps me stay levelheaded. If that doesn’t work, then sometimes it’s best to just leave that situation for a little bit to clear my head before diving right back into the problem!
Q. 18) How are you able to prioritize tasks efficiently?
Before taking on any new assignments, I always make sure they are within my skill set so there aren’t any parts of the project where I feel uncomfortable or inadequate. After completing an assignment successfully, I evaluate how much time each part of the project took so I have a better idea of how long each task should take next time. Plus, whenever possible, I try to break up a big project into smaller tasks and schedule them accordingly so they’re easier to manage.
Q. 19) What was your most satisfying accomplishment?
I enjoyed working as part of a small team – we all helped each other out and had each others’ backs if someone was struggling on a project. If anyone couldn’t make something work one day, everyone else would pitch in where they needed help instead of having someone single-handedly carry the workload for the entire team!
Q. 20) What do you see as the biggest challenge in this field?
The ever-changing landscape of technology can be difficult to keep up with, which is why it’s important to always be learning and keeping an open mind. Additionally, clients are always looking for new and innovative ideas so it’s important to be constantly brainstorming new concepts.
Q. 21) What do you think the future of this field holds?
There will always be a need for good advertising and marketing professionals because no matter how great a product or service is, it won’t sell itself – it takes a lot of hard work and effort to get the word out there. I think we’ll continue to see more digital-based campaigns and strategies, but traditional marketing methods (like print ads and TV commercials) aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Overall, I think the future looks bright for this field!
Q. 22) How do you stay motivated?
I’m my own biggest critic so I usually set high standards for myself which helps me stay motivated. Plus, I enjoy seeing my work in action and knowing that I made a positive impact in someone’s life, whether it be a customer who was happy with the results of one of my campaigns or a colleague who benefitted from my advice.
Q. 23) What is your greatest strength?
I’m very creative so I think outside the box to come up with unique ideas for my clients.
Q. 24) Do you have any suggestions on how to improve our company?
I think it would be beneficial if you guys had more experienced professionals working for you instead of just entry-level associates because then you’d have people at all different levels to provide mentorship and guidance to newer employees. That way, they can familiarize themselves with your processes and procedures more easily and be productive sooner. Additionally, continuing to develop your online presence would be a good idea – more and more people are turning to the internet for information so it’s important to have a strong web presence.
Q. 25) Do you have any questions for us?
No, I don’t think so – thank you for giving me this opportunity!
After being unemployed for a few months, I was finally able to secure a new job in advertising and marketing. Even though it’s behind schedule, none of my old clients were willing to give me additional work which led to me being unemployed for a few months.
Q. 26) How did you find this job?
I found this job by responding to a job posting online.
The interview process was very long and drawn-out – it took about two months from the time I applied to the time I received an offer.
Q. 27) Why are you interested in this position?
This position seems like a good fit for me because it emphasizes creativity and client interaction. Additionally, I enjoy working as part of a team so I think I would be able to contribute positively to your workplace culture.
Q. 28) What do you think are your strongest qualifications for this position?
I have a lot of experience working with clients directly and coming up with creative ideas on the spot, which I think would be beneficial in this role. Additionally, I have a strong understanding of the advertising and marketing industries so I’m familiar with the lingo and how things work.
Q. 29) What do you think the biggest challenge in this field is?
The ever-changing landscape of technology can be difficult to keep up with, which is why it’s important to always be learning and keeping an open mind. Additionally, clients are always looking for new and innovative ideas so it’s important to be constantly brainstorming new concepts.
Q. 30) What do you think the future of this field holds?
There will always be a need for good advertising and marketing professionals because no matter how great a product or service is, it won’t succeed unless it has good marketing and advertising strategy behind it. Additionally, the two industries work very closely together so they need to complement each other in order to be successful.
